Kyle Baldwin
Kyle Baldwin is a dedicated saxophonist and educator based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Originally from Fresno, California, Kyle’s passion for music led him to the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he graduated in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in music performance. During his time at IU, he studied under the guidance of saxophonists Dr. Otis Murphy and Dr. Tom Walsh. His earlier education was shaped by his studies with Dr. Alan Durst at Fresno State University and Professor Larry Honda at Fresno City College.
Throughout his college career, Kyle was deeply involved in premiering new works for saxophone. He collaborated with composers in the Fresno State composition department, working with composers such as Dr. Benjamine Boone and Dr. Kenneth Froelich. One of his career highlights includes the honor of premiering Dr. Benjamine Boone’s “Ascension: An Etho-Historical Cantata” as a featured soloist with the Fresno State Choir. During his time at IU, he performed with the New Voices Opera, the Jacobs School of Music Saxophone Ensemble, and various new music ensembles. Kyle is a recipient of the Premier Young Artist Award Scholarship and the Marcel Mule Scholarship, two highly esteemed honors from the Jacobs School of Music.
As the alto saxophonist of the Kenari Quartet, Kyle contributes to an ensemble that has made significant strides in the world of chamber music. The Kenari Quartet has established itself on many prestigious chamber music series across the United States, including appearances at Chamber Music Tulsa, Chamber Music Northwest, Grand Teton Music Festival, and Four Seasons Arts. They have achieved top prizes at seven national and international chamber music competitions. Their debut album, French Saxophone Quartets, was released in December 2016 under the Naxos Records label. In 2023, the quartet was awarded the Ann Divine Educator Award by the Fischoff National Chamber Music Association for their exceptional work in educational outreach.
In addition to his music career, Kyle is also making an impact as an academic success coach, where he helps students navigate their educational journeys, offering guidance and support to help them achieve their academic goals. His dual career allows him to impact both the musical and educational communities.
